Non-Discrimination Policy for Sober Home

Rocky Mountain Sober Living is dedicated to providing a safe and supportive environment for individuals in recovery from substance use disorders. We are committed to treating all residents, staff members, and visitors with respect and dignity, and we do not tolerate discrimination of any kind. Our sober home is a place where everyone is welcomed and valued, regardless of their background, race, color, ethnicity, nationality, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, disability, or any other protected characteristic.

Policy Statement

  1. Equal Access: Rocky Mountain Sober Living is committed to providing all residents equal access to our services and accommodations, regardless of their protected characteristics. We do not discriminate in selecting residents or providing services based on any personal characteristic.

  2. Harassment-Free Environment: We are dedicated to maintaining a sober living environment that is free from discrimination, harassment, or retaliation. This includes any behavior that targets individuals or groups based on their protected characteristics, and we have zero tolerance for such conduct.

  3. Reasonable Accommodations: We recognize the importance of reasonable accommodations for residents with disabilities to ensure they can fully participate in our sober living program. We will make reasonable efforts to accommodate individuals with disabilities in accordance with applicable laws.

  4. Equal Treatment: All residents are expected to be treated with fairness, respect, and dignity by our staff and other residents. Discrimination, harassment, or exclusion based on protected characteristics will not be tolerated.

  5. Reporting and Accountability: Rocky Mountain Sober Living takes all reports of discrimination, harassment, or retaliation seriously. We encourage residents, staff members, and visitors to report any incidents to our designated point of contact promptly. Reports will be handled discreetly and investigated promptly. Appropriate corrective action will be taken, which may include education, counseling, or, in severe cases, eviction.

Compliance with Laws

Rocky Mountain Sober Living is committed to adhering to all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations related to non-discrimination and equal access in sober living facilities. This policy is intended to complement and not conflict with any applicable laws, reaffirming our commitment to providing a discrimination-free environment.

Consequences of Non-Compliance

Any violation of this Non-Discrimination Policy will result in appropriate corrective action, which may include education, counseling, eviction, or other measures as deemed necessary by the management of Rocky Mountain Sober Living. We are dedicated to maintaining an inclusive and safe environment for all residents on their journey to recovery.

Conflict of Interest Policy for Sober Living Home

1. Purpose and Scope

This Conflict of Interest Policy ("Policy") is established to ensure that the operations, decisions, and actions of Rocky Mountain Sober Living are conducted with transparency, integrity, and in the best interests of our residents. This Policy applies to all members of the board of directors, staff members, volunteers, and anyone else associated with the management and operation of Rocky Mountain Sober Living.

2. Definition of Conflict of Interest

A conflict of interest arises when an individual's personal, financial, or other interests have the potential to interfere with their ability to act impartially in making decisions or performing duties on behalf of Rocky Mountain Sober Living. Such conflicts may include, but are not limited to, situations where an individual:

  • Has a financial interest, such as ownership, investment, or employment, in a business or organization that competes with or provides services similar to those offered by Rocky Mountain Sober Living.

  • Stands to gain personally from a decision or action taken by Rocky Mountain Sober Living.

  • Holds a paid or unpaid position that creates divided loyalty or could influence their decisions inappropriately.

3. Disclosure of Conflicts

All individuals associated with [Your Sober Living Home] have a duty to promptly disclose any conflicts of interest or potential conflicts to the Executive Director or the designated Conflict of Interest Officer. Disclosure should include the nature of the conflict, the individuals or entities involved, and any relevant financial interests.

4. Evaluation and Recusal

Upon receipt of a conflict of interest disclosure, the Executive Director or designated Conflict of Interest Officer shall evaluate the conflict to determine if it is significant and requires further action. If a conflict is deemed significant, the individual in question shall be recused from any decision-making process or activity related to the conflict.

5. Mitigation and Management

Where possible, Rocky Mountain Sober Living will seek to mitigate conflicts of interest to prevent any adverse impact on the organization and its residents. Mitigation measures may include:

  • Abstaining from voting on matters where a conflict exists.

  • Removing oneself from discussions or decisions related to the conflict.

  • Implementing transparency measures, such as documenting the nature of the conflict and the steps taken to address it in meeting minutes.

6. Annual Review and Training

All individuals associated with Rocky Mountain Sober Living shall receive annual training on this Conflict of Interest Policy and their obligation to disclose and manage conflicts of interest. The Policy will be reviewed and updated as needed to ensure its effectiveness and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

7. Enforcement and Consequences

Failure to comply with this Conflict of Interest Policy may result in disciplinary action, up to and including removal from the board, termination of employment, or other appropriate measures, as determined by the board of directors and in accordance with applicable laws and organizational bylaws.

8. Documentation

All disclosures, evaluations, and actions taken to address conflicts of interest shall be documented and maintained in Rocky Mountain Sober Living's official records.

This Conflict of Interest Policy is intended to safeguard the integrity and mission of Rocky Mountain Sober Living and to ensure that the organization's decisions and actions are consistently aligned with the best interests of its residents and stakeholders.
